Film Friday: Tangerine
Plot: If you're looking for an alternative Christmas film, this is it!
Tangerine is set on Christmas Eve in Tinseltown, where trans working girl Sin-Dee has just been released from a month's stint in jail. When she hears that her pimp boyfriend has been cheating on her, she goes on a mission across LA to track him (and his woman) down...
Fun facts: Tangerine was shot entirely on iPhone, and looks pretty great for it too!
Overall: I really enjoyed this film, it had a lot of very funny moments but was also quite touching. You may find it on your local Netflix, search it out if not!

Film Friday: Carol
Plot: Carol is based on Patricia Highsmith's novel, The Price of Salt, in which a store clerk Therese (played by Rooney Mara) falls in love with an older woman called Carol (Cate Blanchett) who visits the store to buy a Christmas present for her young daughter.
Fun facts: Highsmith wrote the original novel (based on her own experiences) under a pseudonym, she then changed the title to Carol when it was later published under her real name.
Overall: A beautiful film, with great performances from the main leads, Carol picked up a flurry of Golden Globes nominations yesterday, with tips for Oscar success in the new year.
