Vivian Maier

Last year I stumbled upon the work of Vivian Maier, whose anonymous photographs were discovered at an auction in Chicago by John Maloof.

A lot of Maier's life remains a mystery, as she died before anyone had chance to see her photos. But since buying them at auction, Maloof has been busy scanning in the thousands of negatives he bought for the rest of the world to see. This film gives a lot more insight into how the photos were discovered and the challenge to find out more about Maier's life. Her work is brilliant; she captured some really unique moments on film and is a real inspiration to anyone interested in street photography. See more here.

  1. Hi Laura, I have just come across your blog and found your post about Vivian Maier. Thank you so much! I am captivated by her story and can't wait to see the film being made about her life.

  2. Hi Laura,

I just came across your blog, it's really nice! Funny you mention Vivian Maier, I've only recently learned about her through the FORMAT photography festival I'm going to be volunteering at in Derby. The festival will include some shows about her: http://www.formatfestival.com/artists/vivian-maier
