Sunshine and Jam jars

Last weekend was lovely and sunny and it was spent happily making lanterns from jam-jars (for a party in the countryside this weekend!), eating yummy breakfast at a cafe in town, going to a craft fair, watching England lose against Germany (predictably), drinking cider in the garden and dancing around the aforementioned lanterns to the party playlist..yep.

Ridiculously large flag on the Council House building..

(I was actually on a swing at this point, hence my feet in the air, ha!)

A Travelling Journal..

I have recently become a little occupied by looking at artist's journals and thought it'd be really lovely to send out a travelling journal round the globe to various folks asking them to write or draw a page about their day and then compare results..

The rules:

Just draw or write a little account of what happened to you the day you receive the journal through the post. Then just post it onto the next person (you have to really promise to pass it on! ;) When the journal's finished its journey it gets sent home to me and I will scan in the pages and show you lovely folks the results. I shall start it off!

Does anyone want in?

EDIT: Entries now closed for the time being thanks :)

The trailer for Rob Reiner's new film, Flipped looks good - found via the lovely Brodie - the article also lists a top 5 Coming of Age films, all of which I love - apart from the Wackness which I haven't seen. Anyone else seen it or have recommendations along a similar vein?

Inspiration - Lorenzo Papace

I just stumbled upon an amazing stop-motion animation by a French group called Ödland, it is quite reminiscent of Michael Gondry's work which i also love.

Ödland, The Queen of Hearts. from Lorenzo Papace on Vimeo.

Here are some photos from Lorenzo Papace's website. His work is inspired partly by Alice in Wonderland and also reminds me of Micmacs. See more here.

50 Strangers - no. 16

As some of you may know, this year i'm aiming to take portraits of 50 strangers I see in the street, with their permission. So far it's been a great way of getting to know a bit about people I wouldn't normally speak to. At the weekend I took a picture of my 16th stranger, known as Mr Fuzzy! You can see the rest here.

A Home for Alice

Just discovered this blog - participants are invited to take a polaroid of their home and write a short note about why they feel at home there. They are then posted onto the blog. At the end of the project, all the best pictures will be collected to become a book.

If I had more film I'd certainly participate!

Comic: Fluffy

Fluffy is a sweet and funny book by Simone Lia, written about a bunny who thinks it's a child. Fluffy's Dad is confused about his relationship with Fluffy's nursery teacher and decides to make a trip to Sicily to get away from it all.

I'm not great at writing reviews but I really enjoyed this book, it's more than just a cute bunny story! And some parts are narrated by a dust particle!

[PS tried to change the blog layout a bit, if anyone hates it now shout up!]

Building Castles in the Air

The new issue of UK magazine NEET is now online, and i love these spreads - really makes me want to make a den in my bedroom and curl up with a cup of tea and a comic to read while the rain continues outside. It's been a very rainy few days.
