At the weekend I bought a new comic from Page 45, Psychiatric Tales by Darryl Cunningham. The book details his experiences working as a mental health nurse and outlines different psychiatric disorders, chapter by chapter. It also includes a chapter on famous sufferers who have enriched our lives, like Brian Wilson, Nick Drake and Judy Garland. I'm sure you can think of many other artists who have suffered mental health issues as well.
The book was really interesting and although I read it in under an hour, it left a lasting impression with me, especially the end chapter which focuses on the author's own struggle with depression and how making and sharing his art with people helped him out of it.
