TV Shows i miss: My So-Called Life

I was shopping in H&M the other week and noticed just how many checked shirts are out there at the moment (I nearly bought one..hmm). It also dawned on me that shorts with leggings or tights are back in style - all styles that were around in the grunge era when my favourite ever TV show was on, My So-Called Life.


The fact there was only ever one series kind of adds to its offbeat charms.

Photobooths in Berlin

Well i am back from Berlin, it was rainy but fun. (The most graffitied city in the world!) Found quite a few old style photobooths which was exciting (although both times the first picture took us completely by surprise!)

New Comic - French Milk

I forgot I'd ordered this off Amazon and it arrived today.. i'm halfway through and really enjoying it so far. French Milk is a comic by Lucy Knisley, written on a 6 week trip to Paris with her mother a couple of years ago. There's lots of places that I recognise inside, and it has inspired me to draw more on my next trip away (Berlin next week! Yay)..

My Top 5 Comics!

..or Graphic novels if you prefer! Aha, a chance for me to be all geeky! Inspired by Erika's recent post about Ghost World, here's my top comics that I urge everyone to read..

5. Maus by Art Spiegelman - the story of the Holocaust as retold by the author's grandpa, where Nazis are cats and the Jews are mice.


4 Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

The film is also a good alternative to the book, this really opened my eyes up to the suffering in Iran during the uprising in the 1980s. And it's funny and sweet as well!


3. Ghost World by Daniel Clowes

The first comic I ever read.. I really wanted to be Enid when I first read it, ha!
The film's good but the book's better.


2. Clumsy / Unlikely by Jeffrey Brown

I love all the intimate relationship comics by Jeffrey Brown.

1. Blankets by Craig Thompson

This is such an epic but really worth the read.. the most beautiful graphic novel out there. The artwork's amazing.


If anyone out there has any others to recommend, I'd love to hear it.

Alice's Alphabet

On a recent trip to Oxford I popped into the Alice in Wonderland shop and picked up this alphabet poster! It really makes me want to read the book again (-sorry for the slightly rubbish photos!)
