Space Alphabet!

After my recent post about Bruno Munari's ABC, I thought I'd share these images from a 1964 book by Irene Zacks called Space Alphabet. More can be found on wardomatic's flickr. Great inspiration for alphabet themed illustrations such as this ongoing set by Christina seen on her blog!

I had a brilliant time in Stockholm! It's one of the most beautiful cities I've visited. And the people are all so friendly, not to mention stylish. I think if I had to recommend 5 things to do in Stockholm they probably would be to:

1 Go swimming in a lake!
2 Rent a bike and explore the shopping district of Sodermalm
3 Eat at Herman's veggie buffet restaurant (such amazing views of the city!)
4 Go on a boat trip to one of the many islands
5 Go dancing at one of the two Debaser clubs

Vintage clothing from Beyond Retro

Some salt & pepper shakers and a tablecloth I bought from Coctail in Sodermalm

Portable Royal in Blue

Am off to Stockholm for a few days, will take lots of photos to share when I am back! Hejdå!

Vintage Typewriter Ribbons

Ooh just look at these lovely designs. More to be seen here on Flickr.

Book: Bruno Munari's ABC

Last night a new book arrived on my doorstep! I ordered this book as I thought some of the letter pages would make nice posters if I framed them, but now I'm in two minds as to whether to cut it up as the book's so pretty! Munari was an Italian designer who began as a Futurist, later working as an Art Director for Tempo Magazine, after which he began designing books for children, originally created for his son Alberto. He also wrote another book which looks fun, Bruno Munari's Zoo, seen below.

Kate's Cafe

Saw this recently on Design Sponge's guest blog and thought I'd share it here.. for the next couple of weeks the Charlotte Street Gallery in London is being transformed into Kate's Cafe, " a fantasy café brimming with beautifully knitted food artworks." Kate Jenkins has created some stunning works of art by crocheting food, with added sequins! Here are a few of the pieces, they're so detailed!

Make Tea Not War

If anyone's in Nottingham next weekend this event looks good. It's organised by the Nottingham Craft Mafia as part of Sneinton Festival. It's the day after I get back from Stockholm so not sure if I will have the energy to make it but we'll see!

I loved looking through this collection of weird vinyl records earlier. There are some brilliant ones like this Butterfly single by Talk Talk! So much more fun than cd's and MP3's! See more here.

Above: Fat Larry's Band's Stubborn kind of Fellow, 1983
