Favourite Childhood Books No 2: Where the Wild Things Are

Like many people, I loved Maurice Sendak's book Where the Wild Things Are... a friend bought me a new copy for my birthday a few years ago and it's still as brilliant as ever. Is anyone else excited about seeing the new film, directed by Spike Jonze? The trailer can be seen here, it does look good. It should be an interesting soundtrack too, as Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs did some of the score.

Polaroid Love

A while ago I posted about this camera, which I found in a charity shop last year. Anyway I finally got round recently to buying a twin pack of film for it, and I've been loving taking photos, and seeing the instant results! Sadly i think the films are becoming more and more hard to find. I bought mine from Boots but the shop i tried on Saturday had none.. so I hope they don't become impossible to get hold of when the firm stop making them. Til then here's some of my pictures.

Vintage Finds No 4: Sewing Box

I picked up this sewing box in a 2nd hand shop on Mansfield Rd last weekend, and managed to bargain the price down to £8... I like the fact it folds out so you can put all your trinkets in different compartments. Organised.

Book: Around the World with Mouk

I ordered a treat for myself from Amazon last week! Around the World with Mouk is originally a French children's book by illustrator Mark Boutavant. Each spread contains a detailed scene of the different countries Mouk visits.. and did I mention it contains re-usable stickers you can place on each page? Too good just for children!

Another great book I've flicked through lately is Play Pen, whose cover is also illustrated by Boutavant. It contains some gorgeous illustrations, definitely worth checking out.

Charity Shop Finds No 3: Cat Teapot!

Although this teapot won't really hold much tea, i think it's quite cute anyway!

FunStupid: Week 4

Week 4's theme was light, and I had fun taking photos in the Market Square last week. Pictured above is one I took of the Nottingham Eye. Although we're not allowed to call it that any more apparently as it's breaching some kind of daft copyright! See our chosen pictures here.

Pop-up CD Packaging: The Ditty Bops

I'm always interested in original cd artwork and wanted to share this album cover I found on the DieLine, designed by Renee Jablow for a band called the Ditty Bops. The artwork features a pop out cover witha pull-tab and a spin wheel on the back. It was nominated for a Grammy but sadly lost out. It looks really fun and I'd love to get my hands on a copy just to try out the pop up feature! Check out the Ditty Bops website for more lovely design work, and to hear some sweet pop songs too.

Do Not Leave Unattended!

There's a few of these projects going on, which involve filling a page in a notebook with doodles, words or anything you like and then posting it on to someone else across the globe.

From the site:

‘Do Not Leave Unattended!,’ allow(s) you to write, draw, create a collage, or whatever method you choose for recording your contribution in a notebook to be shared with the rest of us. 10 initial notebooks were sent out to the first participants in St. Louis, Los Angeles, Greensboro, Orlando, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Madison, Houston and Atlanta, with over twenty more put into circulation since the project kicked off in August of 2008.

Above: a selection of pages by contributors to the project.

So I have signed up, although it looks like the list is fairly long so I'm not sure as yet when mine will arrive. Quite excited about seeing what other people have done though, as well as adding my own little contribution! To see more or sign up yourself visit the site here.
